The slide lock lever is minimalist, to go with a very concealable pistol: less to snag, and less to inadvertently cause slide lock-back while firing. I don't find the slide lock lever difficult to release by depressing the lever on the P365, but I think it's best done by retarding the slide and letting the lever release itself.
